Puri: The Singhadwara police on Monday detained as many as eight pilgrims after they were allegedly found taking selfie with their smartphones inside the world famous Sri Jagannath temple premises here in Odisha.
Sources said, the pilgrims belong to Barsuan area in Jharkhand. Police have also seized at least seven smartphones from their possession.
Notably, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has banned the use of phones inside the 12th century shrine for one and all amid reports that several photos of Srimandir garbhagriha had gone viral on social media.
